Chronic inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease have been considered almost incurable, even if TCM in Crohn's disease as well as a new drug in the fight against Crohn's disease.
On the one hand, the active substance Usteknuman is to help effectively against Crohn's disease, namely a thrust of infection and prolong the phase without inflammation. Crohn's disease is shown firstly by regular diarrhea. These are slimy, but usually without blood. Secondly, abdominal pains occur in the abdomen on the right.
A second new approach is based on SMAD7 antisense oligonucleotide, which is designed to curb the infection of the last part of the small intestine.
Crohn's disease affects all layers of the intestinal wall, but not all intestinal sections are equally inflamed. The exact cause is still unknown, but the persons concerned show a deficiency of body-borne antibiotics;therefore, many researchers suspect a disturbed immune response on a genetic basis, which may be activated by an infection.
The antibiotics are absent and therefore the intestinal mucosa can not adequately repel harmful bacteria. These bacteria then release the inflammation.
Crohn's disease attacks the last part of the colon, but also affects every other section of the intestine, from the mouth to the anus. Everywhere inflammations occur - when they heal, they leave scars that can narrow the intestine.
If the disease is severe, nutrients are only insufficiently processed by the intestine. Loss of weight and blood loss are the result. The risk of developing colorectal cancer is increasing.
Treatment to date
Mesalazine can be used as a porcine or rectal foam when only the rectum and the lower colon are affected. In case of a heavy thrust, cortisone preparations help in the form of an enema or again as a foam. Immunosuppressants are used for extremely severe attacks. These suppress the defense functions and thus inhibit the inflammation.
Against Crohn's disease, azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine and infliximab help. Living strains of Eschericchia coli stabilize the intestinal flora. Aziathiopirin also helps after a heavy thrust, which lengthens complaint-free times. Ciprofloxacin helps to heal the fistulae and abscesses in Crohn's disease. Loperamide or colestyramine are successful against diarrhea.
Often, the drugs do not help, especially if bleeding occurs, the intestine narrows, the fistula spreads or pus accumulates in larger amounts. Then it must be operated.
The doctors now remove the most affected sections of the intestine.
In Crohn's disease, the doctors avoid surgery as long as possible, because the shortened bowel brings additional complaints. Often, the intestinal seams do not heal, or new fistulae and abscesses develop.
Normal intestinal complaints
Crohn's disease is a severe and chronic disease that severely restricts the enjoyment of life. Attention should be paid to symptoms if alternative explanations for intestinal complaints are missing. Whom the intestine makes, but should ask itself:
1) Have I in the last days my gut over-irritated? Did I drink a lot of coffee, for example, in the form of energy drinks, gummy bears, chocolate? Have I drunk a lot of alcohol, and / or smoked many cigarettes? Have I consumed a lot of animal fat - belly with grilling, roast goose or pork leg?
2) Have I given too little dietary fiber to my gut, so I do not eat fruit and vegetables, no pulses like beans or chickpeas, or linseed, pumpkin seeds, etc.?
3) Did the diarrhea occur after a meal? Is there an intolerance or food poisoning?
4) Am I just coming back from a trip? Is it a travel diarrhea? This takes two to five days, colibacteria or viruses are the cause.
Can I answer no to all of these questions, perhaps it is Crohn's disease. At the latest, when blood is in diarrhea, violent abdominal pain comes and the affected ones are feverish, they should go to the doctor the same day.
What can sufferers do?
Anyone who suffers from an acute spasm should be physically healthy and remain in bed, ie behave like a flu infection.
During a light push the body can be relieved by liquid food without fiber - but with a heavy thrust infusions are necessary. In Crohn's disease, the renouncement of smoking reduces the risk of a new thrust.
During mild spurts and in complaint-free times, means of plant healing for diarrhea and abdominal cramps: bloodwurz, peppermint or Schöllkraut. Indian flea seeds are appropriate when changing diarrhea and constipation.(Dr. Utz Anhalt)
Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammation of the lungs is often discovered late and increases the risk of developing colorectal cancer. Now, two new therapies promise success in treatment. This was a conclusion of the "German Society for Gastroenterology, Digestive and Metabolic Diseases( DGV)" on the day of action "Chronic Inflammatory Diseases" on 19 May.
